PRAYERS AGAINST GRAVEYARD ATTACKS
Opening Scriptures
Psalm 91:5–6 (KJV)
“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.”
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
Psalm 121:7–8 (KJV)
“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
INTRODUCTION
The subject of “graveyard attacks” is often understood in Christian prayer as a symbol of death, fear, oppression, recurring nightmares, spiritual intimidation, and anything perceived as an attempt to associate a person’s life with destruction. We should approach such prayers with faith rather than terror. Scripture does not teach believers to live in constant fear of graves, cemeteries, dreams, or unseen forces. Instead, it repeatedly directs God’s people toward the authority of God, the victory of Christ, and confidence in God’s protection.
The grave represents an image of finality. It speaks of what has been buried, what appears finished, what cannot speak for itself, and what seems incapable of returning to life. Therefore, when Christians pray against graveyard-related oppression, the prayer can become a declaration that everything contrary to God’s purposes- fear, hopelessness, spiritual intimidation, destructive patterns, and the weight of the past will not determine the course of their lives.
There are seasons when a person may experience disturbing dreams, recurring fear, thoughts about death, frightening imagery during sleep, or an unusual sense of oppression. Such experiences can feel very real and deeply unsettling. But experiencing a frightening dream does not, by itself, prove that a supernatural attack has occurred. Prayer can be accompanied by practical wisdom, emotional support, healthy sleep habits, and professional help when distress becomes persistent.
The believer’s confidence is therefore not in fighting a cemetery, a grave, a dream, or an unseen object. Our confidence is in God.
We do not approach these prayers trembling before darkness. We approach God with confidence. We declare that our lives belong to Him, that fear will not rule our minds, that death does not have the final word over those who trust in Christ, and that no weapon formed against us will prosper.
Whatever has been buried in the past- whether pain, disappointment, fear, shame, trauma, or memories that continue to trouble the heart- we bring it before God. Whatever appears dead in our lives, we ask God for restoration. Whatever produces fear, we ask for peace. Whatever produces confusion, we ask for clarity. Whatever causes us to feel spiritually oppressed, we ask God for strength and deliverance.
This is not a prayer session built around fear of the grave. It is a declaration of confidence in the God who gives life, preserves His people, and remains Lord over every circumstance. So as you pray, do not pray as someone trying to convince God to protect you. Pray as someone placing complete trust in Him.
WAYS TO BREAK FREE FROM GRAVEYARD-RELATED FEAR AND OPPRESSION
1. Build your confidence in God’s protection
Meditate on Scriptures concerning God’s protection instead of constantly focusing on frightening possibilities.
2. Refuse to feed fear
Do not repeatedly interpret every disturbing dream or unusual experience as proof that something terrible is happening. Fear can magnify distress.
3. Pray consistently
Develop a regular prayer life rather than waiting until frightening experiences occur.
4. Study Scripture
Know what God’s Word actually says about life, death, fear, protection, and the believer’s identity in Christ.
5. Deal with recurring nightmares wisely
Maintain healthy sleep routines and reduce frightening media or conversations before bedtime. Persistent nightmares can also be discussed with a qualified professional.
6. Release the past
Do not allow painful memories, grief, previous failures or traumatic experiences to remain emotionally “buried” inside you. Bring them to God and seek appropriate support.
7. Reject fear of death
Christian faith teaches hope beyond death. Constant fear of death should not become the controlling force of a believer’s daily life.
8. Surround yourself with mature spiritual support
A trusted pastor, church leader, or mature Christian can provide prayer, biblical guidance, and emotional support without encouraging unnecessary fear.
9. Guard your mind
Be careful about constantly consuming stories, videos or teachings that make you expect supernatural attacks everywhere. What repeatedly occupies the mind can influence fear and anxiety.
10. Keep your focus on Christ
The ultimate source of confidence is not the intensity of a prayer, a particular formula, or fear of an enemy. It is faith in God and dependence upon Christ.
