INTRODUCTION

Life is one of the greatest gifts God has given humanity. Every person on earth carries a purpose, an assignment, dreams, relationships, and responsibilities that require time to fulfil. This is why the preservation of life is important. God did not create us merely to exist; He created us to live meaningfully, fulfil purpose, make an impact, and declare His goodness upon the earth.

The Bible says in Psalm 91:16, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” This Scripture reveals God’s desire for His children to experience His preservation and salvation. When we pray against untimely death, we are not praying because we are expecting tragedy; we are committing our lives into God’s hands and asking Him to preserve us from dangers that could cut our lives short.

There are times when people experience frightening situations, repeated accidents, serious threats, disturbing dreams, unexpected losses, or circumstances that create fear about the future. Such experiences can make a person constantly anxious about what might happen next. But fear should never become the foundation of our lives. Our confidence must remain in God, because He sees what we cannot see and knows what lies ahead of us.

Psalm 118:17 declares, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” This is a powerful declaration of life and purpose. We are asking God for grace to live long enough to fulfil the assignments He has given us, to see the fruits of our labour, to accomplish our dreams, and to become all that He has called us to become.

However, walking in divine preservation also requires wisdom. We should not deliberately expose ourselves to danger and expect prayer to replace responsibility. We must avoid unnecessary risks, heed genuine warnings, make wise decisions, care for our well-being, and seek appropriate help when there is real danger or a health concern. Faith in God and wise living should work together.

It is also important not to interpret every frightening dream, delay, accident, or difficult circumstance as a prediction of death. Not every troubling experience means that something terrible is about to happen. Therefore, we refuse to live under the bondage of fear. Instead, we pray with faith, seek God’s direction, and trust Him to order our steps.

As you pray these prayers, commit your life, family, journeys, future, plans, and purpose into God’s hands. Ask Him to preserve you, expose dangers you need to avoid, give you discernment, guide your decisions, and keep you from situations that could unnecessarily put your life at risk. May the Lord preserve you and your household, satisfy you with long life, and give you grace to fulfil your days with purpose and testimony, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

HOW TO WALK IN GOD’S PRESERVATION

1. Put your confidence in God; Do not allow fear of death to control your thoughts. Trust the One who holds your life in His hands.

2. Pray consistently; Make prayer a lifestyle rather than something you do only when you are afraid. Commit your life, family, plans, journeys, and future to God regularly.

3. Walk in wisdom: Faith does not mean deliberately ignoring danger. Avoid unnecessary risks and make responsible choices.

4. Pay attention to warnings: God can use people, circumstances, wise counsel, and practical warnings to guide us. Do not ignore genuine safety concerns.

5. Guard your environment: Stay away from dangerous situations, reckless behaviour, violence, and activities that could unnecessarily put your life or someone else’s life at risk.

6. Refuse to live in fear: Fear can make a person constantly expect the worst. Instead, meditate on God’s promises and focus on living purposefully.

7. Live purposefully: Do not merely pray for more years; ask God for a life that is fruitful, meaningful, and useful for His glory.

8. Seek help when necessary: If you or someone around you is facing a genuine physical safety or health concern, prayer should go together with appropriate practical help and professional care.
